Igor Tudor was disappointed by the decisive Roma goal, as Udinese defenders “just stopped and I’m not sure why. They have to play to the whistle.”
The Friulani were beaten by an Edin Dzeko strike, allowed to spring the offside trap by a smart Stephan El Shaarawy flick over the defence.
“The defeat was down to Roma’s performance and I tip my hat to them,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.
“We came here and tried to snatch something, at times showing interesting elements, at other times Roma pinned us back. It’s disappointing that we conceded the goal in rather strange circumstances, because my players just stopped and I’m not sure why. They have to play to the whistle.
“We’ve got Lazio on Wednesday, then we’ll play a very important game at home with Sassuolo. There are a lot of points still up for grabs, we’ll learn from this defeat and improve what we got wrong.”
Tudor has certainly turned Udinese’s season around since taking over last month, but admits he is limited in his options.
“It’d take about a month to do what I want, but there’s no time and so I have to adapt. After Sassuolo, we’ll have 10 days to work in training and I’d like to see more intensity. I don’t like my teams to sit back, as we have to take the initiative and be aggressive.”
