Three siblings drown in Ebonyi river

Ebonyi state police command Wednesday, confirmed the death of three siblings from Amauzu Amaeze Ishiagu, in Ivo local government area of Ebonyi state.

The deceased children – Chisom Goodness Okoro, a female is 18 years, Chinelo Covenant Okoro, also female of 15 years, and Chika Godwin Okoro, a male is 14 years of age were said to have gone to the farm with their mother and father Mr and Mrs Aja Okoro on April 25, this year, but took permission to take their bath.

A statement from the Police Public Relations Officer, Dsp Loveth Odah, revealed that the children who were buried the same day.

The statement reads, “Today 28th April, 2020 at about 11am, one Amamuche Okoro Aja ‘m’ of Amauzu Amaeze Ishiagu in Ivo L.G.A of Ebonyi state, reported at Ivo Divisional Headquarters that on the 25/04/2020 at about 11:12am, himself and the wife one Catharine Okoro ‘f’ went to the farm together with their three children namely; One Chisom Goodness Okoro ‘f’ 18yrs of age, Chinelo Covenant Okoro ‘f’ 15yrs of age and Chika Godwin Okoro ‘m’ 14yrs of age, that after much work, the children excused themselves to get refreshed at a nearby river. Sensing that they had stayed too long, he sent his wife to call the children only to find out that they have all drowned in the said river.

“Mr. Okoro Aja narrated further that the three corpses were recovered and buried immediately as there is no foul play suspected.

“Following the report, the Divisional Police officer of the Area led a team of Police detective to the scene of the incident and immediately commenced investigation into the matter.

“Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police Ebonyi state, CP Awosola Awotinde, mourns and commiserates with the deceased family, the general public especially the people of Amauzu-Amaeze Ishiagu in Ivo L.G.A of the state, for such unfortunate incident.”
