Team Nigeria ‘s Ekevwo, Enekwechi Win Gold; Oyeniyi Bags Silver

Team Nigeria won Gold and Bronze medals in the men’s 100m final at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium on Day Two of the Athletics event of the 12th All Africa Games in Rabat, Morocco, reports Completesports.com.

Raymond Ekevwo won the race with a new personal best time of 9.96s (+1.6). He also qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Ivory Coast’s Arthur Cisse came second with a time of 9.97s, while Nigeria’s National Champion Usheoritse Itsekiri placed third with a personal best of 10.02s.

Chukwuebuka Enekwechi also won Gold for Team Nigeria in the men’s Shot Put event setting a new African Games record in the process.

Enekwechi’s throw of 21.48m eclipsed Frank Elemba’s old mark of 20.25m.

Meanwhile in the men’s 110m Hurdles final, Abejoye Oyeniyi overcame a poor start to race to a Silver medal, getting to the line in a time of 13.90s, finishing behind Algeria’s Amine Bouanani who won the GOLD in 13.60s.

Highly rated, Joy Udo-Gabriel finished in a disappointing fourth position in the women’s 100m final.
