From England: Inter and Juventus to battle it out for Tottenham star | English News

21 April at 23:00

According to the latest reports out of England, not only Real Madrid are after Christian Eriksen. In fact, new claims suggest that two Serie A sides are interested in the player, ready to make their respective attempt in the summer.

Tottenham’s attacking midfielder has a contract until 2020 with the club and as of now, a contract renewal is yet to be agreed upon. According to the English outlet The Mirror, Inter and Juventus are interested in the player’s services, as well as Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.

However, it all depends on Tottenham’s negotiations with the player. Should they fail to reach an agreement though, then multiple clubs will line up to try and secure the player for free next summer. An alternative scenario would be that Tottenham decide to sell Eriksen this summer, in order to avoid losing him for free in one year.

Everton inflict humiliating defeat on lethargic Manchester United

[ad_1]

4:0

Manchester United’s season took a drastic turn for the worse as they crashed to a humiliating 4-0 defeat at Everton in the Premier League.
First-half goals from Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson stunned Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s lethargic side before Lucas Digne and Theo Walcott piled on the misery at Goodison Park.
The loss was United’s sixth in eight games in all competitions and turned up the heat on Solskjaer and his misfiring players, whose fortunes have slumped since the Norwegian was made permanent manager last month.
United, who remain sixth in the table, have now conceded 48 goals in the Premier League this term, their most in a top-flight campaign since 1979.
They arrived on Merseyside looking to bounce back from their midweek defeat in Barcelona and reinvigorate their top-four push but they never got started.
Romelu Lukaku, restored up front against his former club, struggled to get into the game and Paul Pogba did not impose himself in midfield.
Everton applied all the early pressure, winning a succession of corners and free-kicks that allowed them to create problems in the United box.
The hosts’ first serious opportunity fell to Richarlison following a set-piece. David De Gea produced a brilliant reflex save to keep out the Brazilian’s first effort and the striker turned the rebound wide.
Richarlison was soon to get another chance, however, and this time he made it count. Thirteen minutes had gone when Lucas Digne launched a long throw into the area and Dominic Calvert-Lewin flicked on. Richarlison met it with an acrobatic volley that flew into the net.
United got some relief when Pogba launched a long ball from inside his own half and Marcus Rashford raced in on goal but the England forward’s half-volley flew narrowly over. Rashford also blasted a free-kick over but Everton soon regained control.
Sigurdsson doubled the lead from a quick counter-attack in the 28th minute. Nemanja Matic backed off enough to allow Sigurdsson to cut inside and unleash a fierce low drive from 30 yards. De Gea was slow to react and the ball shot into the bottom corner.
Things could have got worse as Phil Jones needed to produce a fine challenge to cut out another break and Richarlison fired another effort at De Gea after a Diogo Dalot mistake.
The interval failed to re-energise United, who conceded again 11 minutes after the restart.
Everton had suffered a blow by losing Richarlison to injury but it did not dampen their threat and Digne lashed in a long-range shot after De Gea punched clear from a corner.
De Gea also needed to react quickly to kick clear a Sigurdsson corner off the line as it swerved dangerously towards the near post.
Yet there was no hiding place for United. Walcott, who replaced Richarlison, added the fourth as Everton were again allowed to break all too quickly. He was released by Sigurdsson and showed his composure as he closed in on goal to slip the ball past De Gea.
United started to look desperate as Anthony Martial theatrically fell to the ground in the penalty area after minimal contract. The Frenchman blasted another chance wide of target and Rashford shot over before the game petered out.
The United fans voiced their support for Solskjaer but the team’s form is a serious concern with a tricky derby against Manchester City and a clash with Chelsea in the next week.

Manchester United ‘make enquiry’ for Bayern Munich defender Niklas Sule

Manchester United ‘make enquiry’ for Bayern Munich defender Niklas Sule as manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer plots his summer transfer business

  • Manchester United are said to be keen on Bayern Munich defender Niklas Sule
  • Reports in Germany say that the Premier League club have ‘made an enquiry’
  • Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to bolster his squad to bridge the gap in quality

Manchester United are driving on with preparations for the summer transfer window having ‘made an enquiry’ for Bayern Munich defender Niklas Sule.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to bolster his squad this summer with a new defender high on the priority list.

According to sport1, Sule has become an integral part of Bayern’s side in recent months and has caught the eye in Manchester.

Sule has established himself in Bavaria and has gone on to make 36 appearances, scoring one goal, this season.

United look set to sell at least one centre back this summer with Marcos Rojo and Eric Bailly facing uncertain futures at Old Trafford.

Interest in Sule has grown after seeing his pace and power show itself consistently in the Bundesliga and Champions League.

There is no exit clause in Sule’s current contract, which runs until 2022, and estimates in Germany place the defender’s market value at more than £40million.

Links to United could see Bayern react and offer a contract extension as they will be reluctant to lose one of Europe’s most promising young defenders.

After a Champions League exit to Barcelona, Solskjaer bemoaned the gap in quality between United and Europe’s elite and insisted an overhaul is needed from the players to the coaches.

‘We know there’s work to be done,’ Solskjaer said following a 3-0 defeat in Spain.

‘I’ve said all along this isn’t going to change overnight. The next few years are going to be massive to get to the level of Barcelona and other teams.

‘We’re on with the job and have spoken to the players. We need to get the best out of each other and create an environment of top-class attitude.

‘We’ve got good players to work with but, as I said, we’ve got a rebuilding job. It starts with the coaches and players, and with one or two additions.’

Falcao an idea for AC Milan and Fiorentina? | English News

[ad_1]

21 April at 13:15

Radamel Falcao is set to leave Monaco this summer and as reported by Sport, his next destination could be in Spain. However, there is also interest in Serie A in the player. AC Milan have been tracking the player for some time and Fiorentina also have the Colombian on the radar.

Not long ago, El Tigre spoke publicly about his possible future: “I have a contract for a year and I am focused only on the season finale. Then I will want to continue playing at high levels, whether here or in another European country.”

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer set to restrict signings in bid to help young stars progress into first team

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer set to restrict signings in bid to help young stars progress into the first team

  • Manchester United are likely to limit their transfer activity this summer
  • Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to promote young stars such as Mason Greenwood
  • Several senior players including Antonio Valencia are likely to depart the club

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer won’t flood the club with new signings this summer – because he doesn’t want to block the progress of Manchester United youngsters already at the club.

Though the United manager has promised spending at Old Trafford after another disappointing season, he insists there will be fewer than six new arrivals and cited the examples of Marcus Rashford, Diogo Dalot and 17-year-old starlet Mason Greenwood to explain.

‘I don’t think you can expect six players coming in – I know there won’t be six players coming in,’ said the Norwegian. ‘We can’t just take players in because we need a body.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is determined to give opportunities to players such as Mason Greenwood

‘Mason Greenwood is a player for me – he is 17 and I want to give him the chance to become a top player at this club.

‘It’s the same with Marcus Rashford at 21 and Diogo Dalot at 20. These players are going to get a chance and that is going to affect players who are at the other end of their careers.

‘It means you don’t want too many changes with signings and you have to say to players at the other end of their careers: “I don’t think you’re for me”.’

United’s history has been synonymous with giving young players their chance and Solskjaer will be keen to bring that philosophy back, particularly at a time when rivals Manchester City and Chelsea are criticised for restricting the opportunities for talented teenagers Phil Foden and Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Manchester United want a young winger in the mould of Jadon Sancho this summer

Manchester United want a young winger in the mould of Jadon Sancho this summer

Despite a fantastic start to his management, Solskjaer goes to Everton Sunday in sixth position – where they were when Jose Mourinho was sacked in December.

In addition, they were comprehensively knocked out of the Champions League 4-0 on aggregate by Barcelona last week.

A winger in the mould of England youngster Jadon Sancho is high on United’s priority list with replacements also needed for right-back Antonio Valencia who is leaving and midfielder Ander Herrera who is expected to sign for PSG.

However with Solskjaer wanting to rebuild United step-by-step rather than a summer revolution, it is unlikely the club will allow Real Madrid to take Paul Pogba despite strong interest from Zinedine Zidane.

Pogba failed to stamp his mark on the Barcelona tie and his recent form has led to renewed debate about his best position. Solskjaer said: ‘Everyone has got an opinion on Paul and of course together with him we have sat down and discussed his positioning.

Solskjaer has held talks with Paul Pogba over the Frenchman’s best position in midfield

‘We know he can play a 10, we know he can play a six, we know he can play in probably his preferred position as one of the three in midfield, high like he did for us at the beginning and like he has done with Juventus.

‘With France he has played as one of the two sitters, or one of the two central midfielders, with N’Golo Kante.

‘So that is the great thing with Paul. He can do both and what we have to to do with all the players is adjust to the games, what that game needs.

‘You can see teams now thinking more about what Paul’s position is and trying to stop him in that position.’

Matteo Darmian, Eric Bailly and Juan Mata could also depart for Solskjaer to free up room for his ‘kids’.

Spanish playmaker Juan Mata is among the players who might depart the club this summer

‘We know it’s going to take a few windows and it’s about culture as well. We have to get a culture where players take ownership themselves.

‘I think the players deserve to get the chance to come in for pre-season and show what they’re capable of.

‘Are they fit enough? Are they hungry enough? Do they want this enough? Do they want to give everything to the team? Or do they think only about themselves?’

After the weekend trip to Goodison, United host Manchester City at Old Trafford in a game that could have huge consequences for the title race – one which Solskjaer hopes United are involved in before too long.

Alexis Sanchez and Ander Herrera are in contention to make their Premier League returns from injury with Solskjaer hoping Sanchez can turn his career at Old Trafford around.

Transfer news: Zidane cagey in response to Bale future | English News

[ad_1]

20 April at 22:45

Real Madrid recently appointed Zinedine Zidane to become their head coach once again; under a year after the Frenchman left the club after a disagreement with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez. Zidane’s appointment has come at a time of struggle for Madrid; who have lost the title race to Barcelona and exited the Champions League from the round of 16 to Ajax.

Zidane spoke at a press conference where he spoke on a couple of topics, including Gareth Bale and his rumoured departure from the club.

“Bale’s future? We haven’t talked about it, now I’m just thinking about the training camp. Reconstruction? I don’t want to expose myself, especially on the names. With the club we will deal with the topic concerning the profiles I need, the leadership knows perfectly what I need.”

Bale has been linked in the past with a move to Manchester United, as well as a potential return to his former club Tottenham Hotspur; with Madrid reportedly interested in Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen and Harry Kane.

Juve, Bernardeschi: ‘Winning the Scudetto is not a trivial thing’ | English News

[ad_1]

20 April at 23:00

Federico Bernardeschi played for Juventus today as the Bianconeri overturned a 1-0 deficit to defeat Fiorentina 2-1 and claim their eighth successive Scudetto title. Bernardeschi, speaking to DAZN after the match, said this:

“It’s a great day of celebration, winning the Scudetto is never a trivial thing. I think we are a great team, it didn’t go the way we wanted in the Champions League but you can’t always win the Champions League as Ronaldo also said. It is a difficult competition, just like the Scudetto, it is a path and it requires struggle and sacrifice.”

Champions League: AC Milan need to support Inter now | English News

[ad_1]

20 April at 16:45

AC Milan’s disappointing draw at Parma earlier today means that the rossoneri will have to support Inter Milan to help them qualify for the top four this season.

The draw meant that Milan could only increase their lead on Roma to two points and with the giallorossi set to take on Inter later today at the San Siro, the rossoneri would want Inter to pick points off Claudio Ranieri’s men.

Roma are also yet to play Juventus later in the season and a game against Sassuolo is never easy, apart from the tie against Genoa.

Spurs join Juve and Barcelona in race for Dutch wonderkid | English News

[ad_1]

20 April at 10:30

According to what has been reported by English newspaper the Daily Star, Tottenham Hotspur are joining Barcelona and Juventus in the race to sign highly rated Dutch centre-back Matthijs de Ligt. De Ligt is considered to be one of the most promising players of his generation and has already turned many heads with his fantastic performances for Ajax.

Matthijs de Ligt is the Ajax captain and, at just 19, this is an incredibly impressive feat. Not only this but the centre-back scored the winner in Ajax’s 2-1 win at the Allianz Stadium earlier this week; where Juventus were knocked out of the Champions League that they so desperately wanted to win.

De Ligt is already a target of both Barcelona and Juventus; with PSG also thought to be interested. De Ligt will not come cheap, however, and could cost upwards of €80m. Barcelona have already signed De Ligt’s compatriot and Ajax teammate Frenkie de Jong ahead of a summer move and it is possible that this could give the La Liga giants the edge in the race.
