President Muhammadu Buhari has said he will relinquish power if the Election Tribunal declares Atiku Abubakar as the winner of the 2019 elections.
We had had reported that Buhari of All Progressive Congress (APC) defeated Atiku who ran under the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Atiku had rejected the result and headed to court but Buhari has said he will hand over to him if the court declares so.
He spoke in Abuja on Monday where he also warned Nigerian comedians to stop making jokes with him, Concise News reports.
“My government is trying all it takes to tackle insecurity which I see as the only challenge Nigeria is facing at the moment,” he noted.
This is as he assured Nigerians full assurance to end the country’s problems in his four years.
The Chairman of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, on Wednesday directed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, to file a formal application asking her to step down as a member of the tribunal
This formed the resolution of the meeting the panel members held with lawyers appearing in the case earlier on Wednesday.
Announcing the tribunal’s decision, Justice Bulkachuwa said that the petitioners’ legal team led by Dr. Livy Uzoukwu (SAN), asked her to recuse herself from the panel at the meeting held in chambers.
Recall that the PDP through its National Chairman, Uche Secondus had in a letter demanded that she disqualify herself from further participation in the panel.
Thereafter, Uzoukwu notified the court that his team would file a formal application to that effect on Thursday.
Atiku and the PDP are challenging the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari who was the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the February 23 presidential election.
The petitioner had requested a private meeting with members of the Tribunal.
Present at the meeting were the respondents’ lawyers including Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN) for Buhari,, Yunus Usman (SAN) for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and Lateef Fagbemi (SAN) for APC.
Consequently, the matter was adjourned till May 22 for hearing of the petitioners’ application.

https://twitter.com/realDavePartner ABUJA – The Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, has alleged that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had at various stages of the February 23 presidential election, unlawful allocated votes to President Muhammadu Buhari. Buhari and Atiku Atiku who made the allegation in the petition he lodged before the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja, said he would adduce oral and documentary evidence to show that results of the election as announced by INEC, especially the votes credited to President Buhari, did not represent the lawful valid votes cast. He alleged that in some states, INEC, deducted lawful votes that accrued to him, in its bid to ensure that Buhari was returned back to office. Both Atiku and the PDP said they would call evidence of statisticians, forensic examiners and finger-print experts at the hearing of the petition to establish that the scores credited to Buhari were not the product of actual votes validly cast at the polling units. “The Petitioners plead and shall rely on electronic video recordings, newspaper reports, photographs and photographic images of several infractions of the electoral process by the Respondents”, they added. Specifically, the petitioners serialised results that were recorded from each state of the federation in order to prove that the alleged fraudulent allocation of votes to Buhari and the All Progressives Congress, APC, took place at the polling units, the ward collating centres, local government collating centres and the State collating centres. Atiku contended that proper collation and summation of the presidential election results would show that contrary to what INEC declared, he garnered a total of 18,356,732 votes, ahead of Buhari who he said got a total of 16,741,430 votes. “The Petitioners shall rely on the evidence of Statisticians, Forensic Examiners and other Experts, detailing the data analysis on the votes at all levels of collation, from the polling units to the final return”, he added.

Another interesting revelation has surfaced as how hackers hired by Alhaji Abubakar Atiku, who was the former vice president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, gained access to the server of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, as the People’s Democratic Party are celebrating because they allegedly now have enough evidence that they defeated the incumbent President, Muhammadu Buhari, under the umbrella of the All Progressive Congress, APC.
According to the latest data released by PDP and Atiku Abubakar, he said his votes were reduced by INEC in 31 states and the federal capital territory (FCT).
This is contained in a petition he and his party filed before the presidential election tribunal, claiming that he defeated incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressive Congress (APC) with 1,615,302 votes. Even as INEC is yet to give him access to the election material, the PDP candidate claimed that data from INEC server showed that he actually polled a total of 18,356,732 votes to defeat President Muhammadu Buhari, who had 16,741,430 votes. His claim contradicts what INEC announced, according to the result declared by INEC from the 36 states and the FCT, Buhari polled 15,191,847, while Atiku came second with 11,262,978 votes.
Atiku goes further claiming that smart card readers deployed by the commission, in addition to accreditation, equally transmitted electronically the results of voting from polling units directly to INEC’s server. Atiku alleged that INEC published numbers of registered voters before the election but recorded a totally different figure in its Form EC8D (A). It also contains a breakdown of the 174-page document showed the electronic collation of results state by state as of February 25. For instance, in Abia state, the Atiku’s petition said Atiku recorded 664,659 votes in the electronic results from the server, against the 219,698 votes recorded by the commission.

Former member of the National Assembly,Senator Ayo Arise has volunteered to stand as defense witness in the petition filed by the People’s Democratic Party ‘s Presidential flag bearer, Atiku Abubakar challenging the re- election of President Muhammadu Buhari .
Speaking with Daily Independent in Ado-Ekiti at the weekend, Arise dismissed Atiku’s claim that he actually won the March 23 Presidential Election based on the certain fact he (Atiku) obtained from the server of the Independent National Election Commission (INEC).
Arise, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) described Atiku’s claim as not only bogus but also not verifiable.
Specifically, the former Senator said “It is a ploy to confuse the judiciary in particular and Nigerians at large”
The ex- legislator, who represented Ekiti North Senatorial District between 2007- 2011, however counselled the ruling APC to handle the matter with tact by adopting a scientific approach in puncturing the claim .
He explained that this can only be achieved if the APC sought the services of credible Information and Communications Technology, (ICT) experts as defense witnesses .
According to him, “Politicians are incurable optimists. And every politician who stands for election believes he or she would win, not minding the realities on the ground. For me,I think the first thing is that the public needs to know is how the INEC operates.
“Mostly importantly the chains of collation of the results from the Units through the wards, Local Governments, States and to the headquarters .Unless Atiku is telling us that there is another method employed by INEC which violates the norm we are used to .”
“Or, maybe there is somebody somewhere who is concocting another figures for Atiku The PDP flagbearer should also tell us how he got his information .Whether he officially applies for it ,through the instrumentality of the Free of Information Act (FOI) I think the man must have been ripped off or scammed ” Arise alleged .
“For now, it is illegal for anyone to transmit the results of the elections from the units directly to the centre .Although, we are progressing gradually, and maybe that would happen in the future elections”
“Again , INEC ,APC and the President must look for people with sound knowledge in ICT to tell the world what is possible and what is not .And I am ready to offer myself for free service ,as a defense witness against Atiku at the tribunal ,if the party consults me,” he promised .
Offering suggestions on how APC leadership could manage the raging leadership tussles in the Green and Red chambers, Arise admonished the party leadership to adopt a win approach.
He outlined some measures that could help the APC out of the quagmire.
One of such measures, according to him is open voting system where members would mention their names, party and the candidate of their choice in the full glare of the camera.
“Yes, it’s true that every member of the National Assembly is a potential leader, but we also have the house rules and guidelines which confer privileges to some members based on seniority .The APC leadership must, therefore ensure balancing in sharing key positions .And it must engage members within its folds regularly .Above all, the issue party discipline and supremacy must not be jettisoned or compromised .”
The former senator also hinted that part of the measures would be that any contender who will be stepping down for another based on party arrangement and persuasion, could be given Committee of his or her choice .
Recalled that the presidency, few days ago raised an alarm of an alleged plot by Atiku to cause confusion with the aim of detailing Nigeria’s Democracy.
The presidency alleged ,among others things that the PDP standard bearer was of printing fresh campaign posters and enlisting certain foreign supports to halt the May 29 inauguration of President Buhari for the second term tenure.
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has claimed that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has refused to obey the March 6, 2019 ruling of the Appeal Court, directing it to allow the party’s presidential candidate for the February 23 poll, Atiku Abubakar, to inspect the documents and materials used during the election.
Atiku and his party were in court, challenging INEC’s declaration that candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), President Muhammadu Buhari won the election.
The PDP, in a statement Saturday night by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan, said INEC had a deliberate and wicked agenda to frustrate Atiku’s bid to reclaim his “stolen” mandate.
The party however, appealed to INEC and APC to obey the court order by allowing Atiku to inspect the electoral materials and documents used in the elections.
“It is imperative to inform Nigerians that upon obtaining the lawful order of the Court, directing INEC to forthwith, avail Atiku Abubakar and the PDP copies of all the documents and other materials used for the Presidential election, our legal team wrote to the INEC Chairman on the 11th and 12th of March 2019 respectively, causing the Order to be served on INEC and requesting access to the said documents and materials.
“Despite being served with the Order and several follow-ups, the leadership of INEC has refused to grant the PDP and Atiku Abubakar access to the materials and documents, notwithstanding the urgency of the matter.
“This action by the leadership of INEC has further exposed that it has been heavily compromised by the Buhari Presidency to rig the February 23, 2019 Presidential election and to frustrate the quest by Nigerians to reclaim the mandate from President Muhammadu Buhari and save the nation from the crisis of an illegitimate government.
“The leadership of INEC and the APC are seeking to frustrate our court option, seeing that the documents and materials will expressly show that Atiku Abubakar clearly won the election by the votes directly delivered at the polling units across the country as well as expose how the commission and the Buhari Presidency manipulated the results for President Buhari.
“The PDP cautions the INEC to note that Nigerians are now aware of its manipulative tendencies and that any further delay in granting access to the materials might attract public odium.
“INEC should therefore, end its unpatriotic partisan shenanigans with the APC and immediately obey the Court of Appeal and grant the PDP and Atiku Abubakar access to the documents and materials and free itself from unholy entanglement with the APC against Nigerians,” the PDP said.
