While the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is yet to give Alhaji Atiku Abubakar access to the voting materials of the just concluded presidential election, hackers of the Adamawa-born politician may have done a “perfect” job him. Even as INEC is yet to give him access to the election material, the PDP candidate claimed that data from INEC server showed that he actually polled a total of 18,356,732 votes to defeat President Muhammadu Buhari, who had 16,741,430 votes.
His claim contradicts what INEC announced, according to the result declared by INEC from the 36 states and the FCT, Buhari polled 15,191,847, while Atiku came second with 11,262,978 votes. How the presidential candidate of main opposition Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) gained access to the figures is still a misery to lots of Nigerians and political observers. He hasn’t only claimed he won the election, but also provided details of the figures he received from each state of the federation. In a tweet, a blogger and political commentator, Abubakar Sidiq Usman said how Mr Atiku got the figures are questionable, he made reference to the rumoured plan of PDP and Atiku to employ hackers from Russia to gain unrestricted access to the server of the electoral umpire.
