Roma sporting director Monchi has yet to agree terms with Arsenal but is reportedly very keen on making the switch.
It was reported over the weekend that Monchi would accept an offer from Arsenal, but Gazzetta dello Sport maintains ‘there isn’t an agreement at the moment’.
However, the newspaper – via journalist Nico Schira – is certain the Spaniard is ‘really tempted’ by the Gunners and that talks are ‘ongoing’ to finalise a deal for the summer.
The 50-year-old, who has also been linked with Paris Saint-Germain and a return to Sevilla, has a €1m release clause in his Roma contract.
He appears increasingly likely to leave the Giallorossi at the end of the season after a breakdown in his rapport with the club’s fans.
A move to Arsenal would see Monchi reunite with Coach Unai Emery, the pair having worked together at Sevilla between 2013 and 2016.
