Mark Bowen is joining Reading as technical consultant.
The vastly experienced former Stoke City assistant coach has agreed a deal until the end of the season.
The 55-year-old, who was capped 41 times by Wales, ended his playing career with a short spell at Madejski Stadium in December 1999.
