Former Super Eagles captain Austin Okocha appeared in a private Aberdeen Sheriff Court hearing on Friday over money laundering charges reports Completesports.com.
Okocha faced a one count charge in relation to alleged acquisition, use and possession of criminal property, and another relating to allegedly concealing, disguising, converting and transferring criminal property which happened in the north-east of Scotland in 2015.
The Scottish police began an investigation in 2015 which spanned two years before charges were brought against Okocha and six others – five of whom are alleged to have carried out fraud related to north-east businesses.
According to the report on a Scottish Daily Evening Express the former Fenerbahce,PSG, Bolton Wanderers and Hull City attacking midfielder made no plea during the hearing and was granted bail.
The 45 year old, Okocha was seen at court wearing white trainers with smart black trousers, a white shirt and suit jacket on top of a puffer jacket.
Okocha made 124 appearances in the English top flight, scoring 14 goals for Bolton Wanderers.
He also netted 14 times for Nigeria in 73 appearances and starred in Nigeria’s 1994,1998 and 2002 World Cup campaigns.
