A young pilot was brought back to earth after his sassy mother called him out for not making his bed when he flew over their home.

Ismaeel Khan, 20, from Durban, South Africa, received his private pilot’s license last year and is currently working to get his commercial license. While enjoying a flight with his friend Bryce on Sunday, he texted his mother, Sarah, to say he was passing by.

Sarah had quite the response for him, and his sister, Nabeela, couldn’t resist sharing a screengrab of their conversation on Twitter.

‘My brother is a pilot in training and was flying over our house and this is what my mum tells him sksksksksk,’ she wrote.

After Ismaeel texted his mother to say that he would be flying over their home in about two minutes, she said she ‘heard’ him but it was ‘too bright to look up.’

‘Safe flight,’ she added, but three minutes later she sent another message.

‘Did you look through your bedroom window and see your unmade bed?’ she asked.

Nadeela’s comical post has received more than 34,000 retweets and 81,000 likes, and plenty of people were amused by Sarah calling her son out.

‘I like your mother…keeping your bro grounded despite the heights he reaches,’ one Twitter user wrote.

Someone else added: ‘Mom will always be mom. You can fly a plane, but you didn’t fix your bed. They will keep you humble I tell you.’

One fan insisted that she needed to make a Twitter account, and another commented: ‘Your mum is brutal and I love it.’

Despite all the jokes, Ismaeel told BuzzFeed News that his mother is proud of him and likes to wave when he passes by in his plane, even if she can’t really see him.

His mother’s Twitter fame has also inspired him to start sharing flight videos on his YouTube page again, starting with Sunday’s flight that led to Sarah’s epic takedown.

‘She’s very supportive because in this day and age, especially in this country, it’s not easy to get a pilot’s license,’ he said.

‘We’re not super well off so basically I’m working and paying for my flights on the weekends. I’m making it happen.’
