Milan are believed to be interested in Manolo Gabbiadini, but Southampton won’t accept a loan with option to buy.
The Rossoneri are looking to bolster their attacking options in January, but Luis Muriel seems determined to join Fiorentina.
According to this morning’s Gazzetta dello Sport, technical director Leonardo is keen to bring Gabbiadini back to Serie A.
Saints value him at around €15m, but would be willing to do business for around €12m.
However, the structure of the deal is major sticking point, as the English club won’t let Gabbiadini leave on loan with an option to buy.
The only way Southampton will consider a loan is if there’s an obligation to make the deal permanent, but Financial Fair Play means Milan cannot commit to spending that money.
Next season’s budget will be dependent on Champions League qualification, with Paolo Maldini already admitting that is central to signing Gonzalo Higuain and Tiémoué Bakayoko outright.
