Meghan Markle‘s baby shower in New York City wasn’t just one of the hottest invites so far this year — it was also a very special reunion for all her guests, who haven’t ALL been together since her wedding to Prince Harry last year.
Daniel Martin, Meghan’s longtime friend and makeup artist, dished on the February 20 festivities in a new interview with People.
‘It was exactly what she needed, and it was a reunion for all of us, too, who hadn’t seen each other since the wedding,’ he said.

Gang’s back together! Daniel, who did Meghan’s makeup for her wedding, described the shower as a ‘family reunion’
Many of Meghan’s closest friends who attended her wedding were there, including Serena Williams, Jessica Mulroney, Misha Nonoo, Abigail Spencer, and Amal Clooney.
Though photographers were stationed outside The Mark Hotel — and also caught Meghan and company at The Polo Bar the night before — what went on inside has been mostly kept hush-hush.
‘Snow was falling outside, and it was so cozy — we all sat on couches or on the floor and told stories and caught up,’ Daniel revealed. ‘It was like going to a family reunion.’
Another guest who spoke to People anonymously added: ‘It was all baby talk. She was getting tons of advice.’
Goodies! Daniel recently shared a picture of the cookies from Meghan’s star-studded baby shower in New York, and said he had ‘such an incredible day celebrating’

On a roll: Daniel (pictured in Hollywood earlier this month) has been taking to press quite a bit lately
Previously, fellow guest Gayle King had shared some details from the party on CBS This Morning.
She said Meghan didn’t open any of her gifts at the party — which were carted back home in a private jet paid for by Amal — and instead waited to go through them with her husband.
‘She wants to do that when Harry and her are back together, so I really don’t know what everybody got her. I think I got her something very nice,’ she said.
She revealed that guests also made floral arrangements that were to be donated to several charities.
‘I thought it was a very sweet thing, it just speaks to who she is. She’s very kind, she’s very generous and a really, really sweet person.
‘A good time was had by all, that’s what I’ll say … it was a very, very small private affair and just a very special time for her,’ she said.
Meanwhile, Daniel — who was on hand to do Meghan’s make-up for her nuptials — has dished on the mom-to-be quite a lot lately.’
Catch up: The shower was a nice reunion for wedding guests like Serena (pictured)
Meghan has seen some of her friends since then, but this is the first occasion the whole group could be together
Speaking to Harper’s Bazaar this month, he revealed that he was too busy to travel to London before the wedding to plan out Meghan’s makeup for the big day, so they had to coordinate via text.
‘I was in New York and she was in London and there was no time because of my crazy schedule to be able to go there,’ he said.
‘I knew exactly what she wanted and the day of the wedding was just us getting together and doing her make-up like usual.
‘I knew she just wanted to be radiant, glowy, and polished with nothing too done. There was so much structure in the dress that I believe if she had any more make-up on, you wouldn’t even look at the dress, and that wasn’t the intention.’
Martin, who works as an ambassador for Dior and has known Meghan for more than a decade, said he opted for a natural look because of different lighting situations throughout the day.

Daniel said that he gave Meghan a darker look for her second dress, to match the evening theme (the bride and groom are pictured leaving Windsor Castle to head to Frogmore House)
He said that the makeup would look ‘completely different’ in the car ride, in the chapel, and in the carriage ride after, and her cosmetics look needed to work in each place.
‘If I started heavier and she got into the church, her make-up would’ve looked a lot darker than when you see her in natural light. It was also noon, when the light is at it’s highest,’ he said.
He only switched it up for her for the party later on, explaining: ‘It was the evening and I did more definition on the eyes, making them darker and smokier.’
In an interview with Fashionista last month, Daniel also attributed his busy schedule during that time to having three different weddings to attend.
‘I already had three other friends get married that same year — to be honest, to me, this was just another wedding. The weekend after her wedding, my best friend got married in Tuscany. So it was just a series of weddings to me at that point.
‘But it was exciting to have been asked, because I wasn’t expecting it, and to also be asked to attend was a whole other thing. It’s a blur.
‘It definitely brought my visibility up and it’s been really weird, but at the end of the day, we’re still great friends. Her profile’s on a much more global level, but — it’s weird to say — it’s still kind of the same.’
