‘It was an unfortunate side effect’: Matt Bennett reveals the real reason he was still a virgin at 29 in an unseen MAFS audition tape… as he insists he didn’t use ‘wife’ Lauren Huntriss to lose his virginity
Married at First Sight’s Matt Bennett has spoken candidly about his virginity in a previously unseen audition tape.
Dressed in a black T-shirt and looking slightly nervous, the 29-year-old said he never planned to be a virgin for so long.
‘It was never a conscious choice to still be a virgin at 29,’ he said in a clip shared on Wednesday’s episode of Talking Married.

‘That was just an unfortunate side effect of me [blocking] myself from any sort of vulnerability, being social and dating.
He said he applied for MAFS because he believed the show would help him build character.
‘[The show] terrifies me and it’s only something I’ve recently learnt that the more something terrifies me the more important it is that I have to do it… if I can face this there’s nothing that can hurt me basically.’
During Wednesday night’s episode of MAFS, Matt and his ‘wife’ Lauren Huntriss, 31, had a falling out in the wake of her ‘lesbian revelation’.

Earlier this week, she told him that she ‘used to be a lesbian’ and the shock of her statement lingered on into Wednesday night’s episode.
At the dinner party, Matt told fellow grooms that he’s not attracted to Lauren, a day after she questioned why he’s not more frisky towards her.
Lauren told him she overheard his entire conversation with the other men and was hurt by his words.

During an appearance on Talking Married, Matt said he was regretful about the way Lauren found out.
‘That’s not the way anyone should find out about that,’ he said.
He also addressed Lauren asking him whether he used her to lose his virginity.
‘I was a little hurt,’ he said.
‘I can understand she was saying it from a place of hurt but it seemed a little weird that given my issues, my phobias my fears, my anxieties – why I would put myself through all of this – get married of national television just to lose my virginity – surely there’s easier ways to do that.’
‘Did you use me?’ Lauren asked Matt whether he used her to lose his virginity but he denied doing so
