Cagliari Coach Rolando Maran is “saddened by Chievo’s current predicament” and admits the opening goal was decisive.
The Sardinians hadn’t won on their travels in Serie A since September 2 against Atalanta, but emerged 3-0 winners thanks to Fabio Pisacane, Joao Pedro and Artur Ionita goals.
“Chievo had actually started strong and our pressing game wasn’t working, but then the goal came, we readjusted and started to control the match,” Maran told Sky Sport Italia.
“Obviously, it all seems easier when we’ve got more of the squad at our disposal, because for a while we were really down to the bare bones.
“It was an important result today, because Chievo are not an easy team to face on their own turf and I know their quality better than most. I am the first to be saddened by their current predicament and I hope they soon get back on track.”
Cagliari announced they have received another all-clear to build their stadium, although the first brick is not expected to be laid for another 15 to 18 months.
“The President is getting a wonderful thing done for the city and the fans, so the arena will become a jewel of this project.”
