The Serbia international moved to Frankfurt on a two-year loan from Benfica in 2017. Frankfurt intend to trigger a £6million clause in that contract and are likely to then sell at the end of the season.

City are monitoring the 21-year-old closely and have been watching every Frankfurt fixture for a number of months.

Jovic can operate in a No 10 role but is predominately a front line striker.. Chelsea have also been linked with him over the past month.

Guardiola’s main areas for strengthening remain in central midfield and at left back. Ben Chilwell of Leicester City is their primary target in defence.
