Beverly Hills 90210 star Shannen Doherty will pay tribute to her former co-star Luke Perry with an appearance in Riverdale, the show he starred in before his death.
Doherty, 48, will guest star in the premiere of the US teen drama’s fourth season.
Her role is yet to be revealed, but the actress confirmed she will appear in the show on Instagram.
“I am deeply honoured to pay tribute to Luke on Riverdale,” she wrote.
“The care in which this show takes in honouring his memory is beautiful. He is missed. Today. Tomorrow. Forever.”
Perry died aged 52 in March, with his family beside him, five days after suffering a stroke.
He and Doherty became household names when they starred together in Beverly Hills 90210 for four seasons in the 1990s, playing Dylan McKay and Brenda Walsh.
The actors rekindled their friendship in 2015 and remained close until Perry’s death.
Doherty and their fellow 90210 co-star Jason Priestley, who played Brenda’s brother Brandon in the show, were among those paying tribute at the time.
Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa also announced the news of Doherty’s guest role on Sunday at Comic-Con in San Diego, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
He said the episode – titled In Memoriam, and scheduled to air in October – will tackle Perry’s legacy as Fred Andrews, father of the main character Archie Andrews.
Perry is also set to appear in Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming film Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, which is released this week.
