Lobi Stars midfielder Kelly Kester says he’s confident his team will prove the critics wrong by picking one of the quarter final ticket intheir CAF Champions league group.
The Pride of Benue were drawn in Group A of the African biggest football club competition alongside Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa), ASEC Mimosas (Cote d’Ivoire) and Wydad Casablanca (Morocco) on Friday.
Kester who arrived the club from Akwa United said the team are ready to fight for one of the two available tickets in the group but insists they must adhere to the instructions of the coaches.
“I think we must do the right thing and try to follow the instructions of our coaches,” he started.
“I think Mamelodi Sundowns are very good. They are the team that like to play the ball on the ground the way football is supposed to be played and I was not surprised they won the Caf Champions League in 2016 that we played against them.
The former Enyimba International midfielder added that the team has no problem with being called an underdog, After all no one gave them the chance to reach group stage.
“So many people have written us off even before the games we played against the Cameroonian team (UMS de Loum) and Gor Mahia (of Kenya) but we qualified at their expense. We are not bothered about what people say but are concentrating on our own preparations.”
