Alberto Moreno emerges as shock summer target for Barcelona with Liverpool left back set to become free agent at the end of the season
- Alberto Moreno could be offered a move to Barcelona once he is a free agent
- The Liverpool defender could be seen as a decent enough deputy to Jordi Alba
- Andy Robertson’s progression has left Moreno without a future at Anfield
Liverpool left back Alberto Moreno could be offered a move to Barcelona at the end of this season as the La Liga leaders search for someone to deputise for Jordi Alba.
Moreno is out of contract this summer and expects to head back to Spain with Barcelona an option for the 26-year-old.
Moreno’s career has stalled at Liverpool where Andy Robertson’s progression has left him without a first team future.

But the former Sevilla full back, who joined Liverpool in 2014 for £12million, is still very highly regarded in Spain and Barcelona has emerged as a suitor.
Alba currently has no reserve at the club with B-team left-back Marc Cucurella out on loan at Eibar and 19-year-old Juan Miranda having struggled to step-up this season.
Barcelona plan to sell Cucurella, who has impressed on loan, but not enough to convince Barca he has a future at the Nou Camp.

Miranda could go out on loan next season and Moreno would come in as Alba’s No 2.
Alba is 30 and has just signed a new contract until 2024.
Arsenal’s Nacho Monreal is also under consideration but Barcelona are understood to prefer the Moreno option because he would have a sell-on value.
