Italy have earned their biggest victory in almost 57 years, while they hadn’t scored six in a single game for 26 years.
The Azzurri took Liechtenstein apart 6-0 in this evening’s Euro 2020 qualifier at the Stadio Tardini in Parma.
Incredibly, before this match, the Nazionale had not scored more than two goals per game since the last time they faced Liechtenstein.
That time, it was a 5-0 victory in the 2018 World Cup qualifying group in June 2017.
They hadn’t scored six goals since a 6-1 World Cup qualifier against Malta in March 1993, when Arrigo Sacchi was on the bench.
However, 6-0 represents the widest Italy margin of victory since another 6-0 result against Turkey in December 1962.
It’s not all about scoring goals, as Roberto Mancini’s men have kept five consecutive clean sheets, something the Azzurri hadn’t managed since June 2005 under Marcello Lippi.
