Italy have kept four consecutive clean sheets, their best run since Antonio Conte in June 2016, but also finally scored more than once.
The Azzurri beat Finland 2-0 in their opening Euro 2020 qualifier this evening in Udine, thanks to goals from Nicolò Barella and Moise Kean.
This was their fourth clean sheet in a row, the longest streak without conceding since Conte’s time at Euro 2016.
The other positive from the evening was that it represented the first time since June 11, 2017 that the Nazionale scored more than one goal in a competitive match.
They last achieved that in a 5-0 thrashing of Liechtenstein in a World Cup qualifier which, funnily enough, was also played in Udine.
Only once under Mancini’s reign had Italy found the net more than once, in his debut 2-1 friendly success against Saudi Arabia on May 28, 2018.
