Simone Inzaghi has warned Lazio’s rivals that his side are ready to win the race for fourth in Serie A after their 2-0 victory over Udinese.
Two first-half goals were enough to end Lazio’s winless run on Wednesday, despite Udinese missing a penalty, leaving the Aquile just three points off Milan.
“We were good, we played well from the first whistle,” Inzaghi told Sky Sport Italia.
“In the first half perhaps we could’ve scored one more goal. At the beginning of the second half we suffered a slight drop.
“In the second half they had a chance from the penalty spot but didn’t give away that much. Without the Strakosha save, the game would’ve opened back up.
“We had Luis Alberto suspended, Cataldi who had a calf problem. I’m happy with how Badelj, Bruno Jordao and Wallace did when they came on.
“Matches are decided in the last 20 minutes, we dropped two points against Sassuolo, which still burn, and we didn’t have to lose at San Siro on Saturday.
“Now it’s useless to look back, these are three very good points and next we have a match against Chievo, which we’ll prepare for the best way.
Ciro Immobile has now scored just once in his five games, so is the Coach concerned?
“I have to be honest, I’m not worried because he’s getting chances,” he asserted.
“It’s a moment that’ll pass with training. He was very useful for the team tonight.
“The top-four race remains open despite Saturday’s defeat, we paid for it last year with our skins.
“All the teams in it are strong and well put-together.”
