Daniele Rugani’s agent claims there were ‘important enquiries’ for the Juventus defender, who ‘knows he must improve’ to justify his new contract.
Chelsea had been heavily linked with bringing in Rugani, given his lack of game time for Juve and the prospect of working under Empoli mentor Maurizio Sarri at Stamford Bridge.
“It wasn’t complicated because both parties wanted to reach an agreement,” Davide Torchia told RMC Sport.
“I was certain of Juventus’ willingness to renew his contract as it had been expressed by Paratici, Nedved and Agnelli for a while.
“There were some important enquiries for Rugani, but him leaving never crossed anyone’s mind.
“Rugani knows he must improve and that this isn’t a point of arrival but rather an important junction for him to break through.”
