God is ready to settle you

God is ready to settle you

By Funmi Komolafe

Brethren, today, we are marking Palm Sunday, the significance of which is the triumphant entry of our Lord Jesus into Jerusalem.    The event is recorded in Mark 11 vs. 1-11.  Verses 7-9 tell us “ And they brought the colt to Jesus, and cast their garments on him; and he sat upon him. And many spread their garments in the way:  and others cut down branches off the trees, and strawed them in the way. And they that went before, and they that followed, cried saying, Hosanna; Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord:

I pray for you today, as Jesus triumphed over his enemies, you will triumph over all challenges.  Very soon, even your mockers will have no option but to rejoice with you. As a Christian, I don’t know what storm you are going through.  A storm if we imagine it on the sea, we know that it is an unbalanced wavering of the sea which unsettles the passengers.

A simple dictionary meaning defines it as “ a violent weather condition with winds and precipitation and thunder and lightning”. Any issue that makes one emotionally unstable is a storm.

For example, lack of money is a storm.  A situation where you look unto others all the time or you are in debt without any hope of being debt free is a storm.

A woman who has been married for years without a biological child is naturally unsettled.  Therefore, barrenness is a storm.

A man or a lady whose relationship never ends in marriage after years of courtship is going through a storm.

An applicant who has all the paper qualification but has not been able to secure a job will definitely not be at ease.  He or she is definitely going through a storm.

But our God can still storms.  Either physical storms or spiritual storms.   Storms induced by human beings or demonic forces, the Prince of Peace has the capacity to still any storm.

Perhaps you are familiar with the story of our Lord Jesus while on a voyage with his disciples.

Mark 4: 37-40 is our witness.  In this account, we see that the disciples were worried just like you are worried today. They were so worried that rather than ask Jesus for help they falsely accused him.

Mark 4 vs. 38 “And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow:  and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? Was Jesus the cause of the storm?   Definitely no. But that is what worry does to us at times.   It could make us point accusing fingers in the wrong direction thereby pushing us further into distress.

But Jesus did not speak to them in harsh tones rather, the Holy Bible records his response this way in verse 39 “ And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still.  And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm”.

Note that the disciplines lost focus because worry.  They failed to pray yet they had been with the Master for sometime and should know what to do.  But they were saved by the mercy of God.

In our own case, you need to take some steps.

Let’s refer to the Holy Bible for what is expected of us. 1st Peter 5 vs. 6-11 is our authority. It states: “ Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God; that he may exalt you in due time. Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom to devour: Whom resist steadfast in faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

To him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Did you get the message?  We are reminded that people, who are not in Christ, are also victims of afflictions but you are in Christ and you are assured that as you remain “ steadfast in faith”, God will make you perfect, stablish, strengthen and settle you.

At the same time, faith without work will earn you nothing.  No miracle.

The book of James 2 vs. 20 confirms this “ But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

Work here could mean prayer, fasting, sacrificial giving, praise worship etc.

How much time do you devout to prayer?  Have you ever taken a decision to fast periodically?

Have you ever taken time to win souls for Christ?

Brethren, don’t deceive yourself.   If you cannot deny yourself the pleasures of life, miracles may elude you.

If you decided not to sacrifice something for the one who sacrificed  his life for you, you may as well not expect miracles.

Palm Sunday that we mark today is the beginning of Passion Week in the Christian Calendar.

Even if you haven’t   been fasting, why not do so this  week.   However, if you have a  medical record  that prevents  you from fasting, that is understandable  but even at that, you can deny yourself some pleasures to work for the Lord.

Work for the Lord and He will work for you.  Jesus fasted, why won’t you? James 2 vs. 21&22 reminds us: “ Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? I’m sure you want to be made perfect.  In other words, you want a permanent rest from all your challenges. It is possible with Jesus.

God is ever ready to settle you.  Are you ready to be settled? If you answer is in the affirmative, go ahead and take steps that will connect you with him and be ready to remain permanently connected.

How do you remain connected?  There are several ways, some of which have   been mentioned earlier.

Find time to attend church programmes.  Don’t be too busy not to attend good church programmes where the anointing of the Holy Spirit flows.

I’ll share with you some testimonies of a few people who gave God their time as regular worshippers.

These testimonies are from Laughter Foundation Cathedral:

Praise God, I am in a marriage relationship – “ I am grateful to God for what He has done for me.  I never knew I could get a man that would be willing to marry me.  But God surprised me. I am now in a relationship.  My husband to be  takes care of my finances, and also helps people around me”.

At last I got married- I want to give God the glory and adoration for putting my enemies to shame, and making it possible for me to get married this year”.

The third testimony-    First baby in 23 years of marriage: “ To God be the glory, I am now a mother, after 23 years of marriage.  I thank God I came to Laughter Foundation. God gave me special favour and made it possible for me to have my baby in the United States, through normal delivery and at the age of 50.  God is good”. Isn’t God really good? 23 years of waiting?  How long have you been waiting for the manifestation of your miracle?

God is about to settle you provided you are ready to sacrifice something.  Thank  God, Jesus does not charge anyone goats, chicken, birds or rams.

The salvation of our soul, deliverance from the hand of demonic forces, indeed every form of challenge, Jesus paid the price for us on the cross with his death and with his resurrection, he triumphed over all. What then are you worried about?  My piece of advise to you is please don’t allow this season to be in vain in your life.

If you haven’t been close to God, start now.  You know the best way for you. It may not cost you money but it certainly will cost you a bit of pleasure that you are used to.

Easter that we look forward to next week shouldn’t just be a period of merry- making, visits, and pleasures of life alone.  It should mean more than that for you.

If you fail to connect with Christ, you lose all. You may never overcome those challenges.  Therefore, I advise you to be wise and take steps to connect with the Almighty God. This is the reason why some churches, use the season to win souls.

Think our your own plans and work towards it.

May I use this opportunity to  inform you that Laughter Foundation has a 16 Super Sunday programme from March 17 to June 30, 2019. It ‘s essentially for people who want to have babies, get married, have financial surprises and healing among others.

Find time to attend and invite your friends.

Other churches also have similar programmes.   Find time to attend.   Don’t get too busy to miss such programmes. If you get too busy, to attend anointing filled programmes, you are only empowering the enemy to continue to have dominion over you.

In the name of Jesus, you will triumph over all challenges this season in Jesus name.

Happy Palm Sunday!
