The FCT Police Command has admonished residents in the need to be security conscious while distributing food and other palliatives during the on-going coronavirus (COVID-19) lockdown.
President Muhammadu Buhari, Monday, extended the stay-at- home order imposed on FCT, Lagos and Ogun state to avoid the spread of COVID-19 by another 14 days following the expiration of the initial 14 days.
A press statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Anjugiri Manzah, Tuesday in Abuja, said: “The FCT Police Command wishes to warn members of the public, especially public-spirited individuals involved in providing food and other forms of support to communities in FCT, to always ensure they have police protection before embarking on such services.
“This advice is to ensure adequate security protection for those involved in rendering such selfless services and to forestall any act that could likely lead to the breakdown of law and order.”
He further stated that, “The Command wants to also warn that social distance must be observed at all food distribution points.”
He assured of the command’s commitment to the protection of lives and property of residents especially during the period of the lockdown.
