Eintracht Frankfurt assistant manager Christian Peintinger felt they “deserved qualification over two legs” after knocking Inter out of the Europa League.
It ended 0-0 in Germany, with Marcelo Brozovic missing a penalty, but Luka Jovic got the all-important away goal just six minutes into the San Siro game.
“I think we deserved qualification over the two legs and we are very proud of the team,” said Peintinger in his Press conference, as Coach Adi Hutter was suspended.
“We knew Inter had some difficulties, but they are still a strong team on the European level and have players to compensate for some absences.
“It was imperative to score a goal and fortunately we managed that straight away, then did well to keep the clean sheet.
“Obviously, this is a special event for me and it feels wonderful to be on the touchline in these moments. I will always remember the celebrations at the final whistle in front of our fans. It was fantastic to have their support here.
“Meeting up with Hutter after the match was comparable to the moment the goal went in.”
