Celebrities offer tributes to Kerri-Anne Kennerley’s late husband John

Celebrities flocked to offer their condolences to Kerri-Anne Kennerley on Thursday after she announced the passing of her husband, John, on Instagram.

Bachelorette star Sophie Monk wrote on Kerri-Anne’s Instagram, ‘Sending all my love, Kak. I’m so sorry,’ and added a love heart to her message. 

‘They loved going out together and even in the wheelchair she’d take him to opening nights and premieres and things. She will be absolutely devastated.’

Speaking on Nine’s Today Extra, veteran entertainment reporter Richard Wilkins said: ‘Such, such sad news. John, just absolutely doted on Kerrie-Anne. She was just so wonderful with him through those tough times.’

The Channel 10 star posted a picture of Kerri-Anne and John laughing together, with the comment: ‘So sorry to hear of the passing of Kerri-Anne Kennerley’s husband John. Their love for each other was absolute. Never more so than in the years since John’s tragic accident. Vale.’

John fractured his neck after falling off a balcony in 2016. 

Ex footballer Brendan Fevola simply posted a love-heart on Kerri-Anne’s Instagram page, while veteran comedian and Channel 10 stalwart Jonathan Coleman posted: ‘So so so sad. God Bless John. xxxx’.

Indeed, it is clear that John was a well-loved man, as Kerri-Anne’s Instagram was overloaded with well wishes on Thursday.

Broadcaster Bianca Dye wrote, ‘Ohhhhh KAK my heart just broke for you my beautiful friend…Sending you so much love’, while Grant Denyer’s wife Chezzi offered: ‘Oh gosh this is heartbreaking news KA-K. Sending you so much love right now. We adore you! The Denyers xoxox.’

John Kennerely passed away at Sydney’s St Vincent’s Hospital overnight, aged 78.
