Football Italia would like to wish all of our readers a happy New Year, and thank you for your support across 2018.

It’s been a big year for calcio, with Roma reaching the Champions League semi-final, Juventus winning a record-breaking seventh Scudetto and Cristiano Ronaldo arriving in Serie A.

Maurizio Sarri’s Napoli thrilled us, achieving 91 points and somehow still being beaten to the Scudetto.

Italian football waved goodbye to Gianluigi Buffon, who left Juve for Paris Saint-Germain, and calcio fans were forced to watch from the sidelines as France won the World Cup.

With green shoots of recovery under new CT Roberto Mancini though, there’s hope the Azzurri can be a force at Euro 2020.

We’ll see you in 2019, when the transfer window will be open and there’s sure to be plenty of intrigue.

Looking further, Juventus and Roma are still in Champions League contention, while Napoli, Inter, and Lazio will be flying the flag for Italy in the Europa League.

The Bianconeri are once again dominating Serie A, but Carlo Ancelotti’s Napoli aren’t conceding the Scudetto yet.

There are also sure to be plenty of madcap goings-on in 2019, though perhaps less frequently now Maurizio Zamparini has left Palermo.

Whatever happens, we’ll be here all year to keep you up to date with the very latest from the wonderful world of Italian football.

Happy New Year, from everyone at Football Italia.
