Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode George, has faulted the decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to declare the Osun governorship election inconclusive, saying the decision was a blatant fraud.
In a statement entitled, “The People of Osun have Spoken”, made available to our correspondent in Lagos, he said it was clear and unambiguous that the people of Osun voted for the PDP candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke. Osun Decides: INEC staff confessed his boss ordered him to destroy authentic Ayedaade LG’s poll result. A staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Osun State, Salawu Mutiu Kolawole on Sunday told journalists that his boss ordered him to destroy the election result of Ayedaade Local Government area of the state.
This confession corroborated the claim of the agent of PDP, Mr Dele Adeleke who explained that the result recorded and pasted on the wall at Ayedaade local government collection center was different from the one presented at the INEC office in Osogbo.
Some INEC officials cautioned Salawu from speaking with journalists as policemen moved to douse the tension. Salawu was then ushered into one of the offices.
In an exclusive chat with Daily Trust, the Chairman of PDP in the state, Mr Soji Adagunodo said there were attempts to manipulate the results of the election in favour of APC.
The PDP Chairman claimed that the results attributed to APC in five local government areas including Olorunda, Osogbo, Ife East, Ilesa East and Boripe LGs were inflated in favour of APC.
Adagunodo noted that the attention of INEC has been called to the discrepancies adding that the electoral body has accepted that there were errors in Olorunda LG.
