Chief Felix Anyansi-Agwu, executive chairman of Enyimba has been listed among seven top African club chairmen billed to hold a stakeholders meeting with FIFA president Gianni Infantino in Cairo on ways forward for African football, Completesports.com reports.
The meeting which will take place in Cairo, Egypt on Wednesday September 11, will be presided over by FIFA President, Gianni Infantino, as the global football body continues search for a new direction for African football.
Anyansi, who is also an executive committee member of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed his enlistment for the meeting during an exclusive chat with Completesports.com on Saturday.
“Yes, the meeting will hold on Wednesday next week, September 11 to be precise” Anyansi-Agwu said.
“I will be back immediately after because of our CAF Champions League match against Al Hilal in Aba.”
Although the names of other six African clubs’ chairmen for the meeting were not immediately handy at the time of this report, Anyansi’s nomination is a clear appreciation for his leadership quality, having steered Enyimba to become the first and only Nigerian club to win the CAF Champions League trophy twice, in 2003 and 2004.
His latest recognition by CAF is a direct acknowledgement of his quality and value in the African football.
He equally guided the club which prides itself as The People’s Elephant to two successive CAF Super Cup triumphs in 2004 and 2005.
Since taking over the mantle of leadership of then modest Enyimba aisw in 2000, Anyansi-Agwu has turned it into a super model club on the domestic front and giants on the continental level.
Under his stewardship, Enyimba have built up a rich trophy-laden shelf, with no fewer than 28 diadems.
