  • PSG are monitoring the situation closely with plans to swoop in and sign him up

Ander Herrera still wants to extend his contract at Manchester United this summer despite a lucrative offer from French giants Paris Saint-Germain.

The Spaniard’s deal at Old Trafford expires at the end of this season and he is yet to agree to new terms, prompting interest from across the continent.

PSG are said to be monitoring the situation closely with plans to swoop in and sign Herrera on a free transfer. They are keen to add to their midfield ranks with Adrien Rabiot expected to leave.

(All Competitions – 2018-19)

Games: 25

Goals: 3

Assists: 3

However, according to ESPN FC, it is ‘far from decided’ whether Herrera will leave the club as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer prepares for the summer transfer window.

The Sun claimed this week that PSG have already entered talks with the midfielder over a £150,000-a-week deal.

The 29-year-old has been a pivotal part of United’s turnaround in fortunes under Solskjaer with the club now in the race for a top-four finish and into the Champions League quarter-finals.

United had made some progress in talks over extending his stay at the club but the lure of a mega-money three-year deal at PSG may prove too much for Herrera to ignore.

It is claimed that PSG are looking towards the potential of free transfers to see if they can pick up quality without much financial outlay.

PSG are said to be planning deals to bolster other areas of their squad as well but those moves will depend on the amount of revenue they can earn from departures.

Solskjaer still retains some hope he may be able to persuade Herrera to stay with the United boss making it one of his priorities over the coming months.

Losing him would be a huge blow for United, who have played him regularly this season.

He is currently out injured but is expected to return to fitness from a hip injury after the international break to be in contention for their match with Watford.
