He is “very happy at the moment” but “we will see what goes on,” were the first statements made by Agent Jonathan Barnett – quoted by the “BBC.” Asked if Bale, whose contract is valid in Madrid until 2022, remains with Real, the aide said: “Yes, why not? He wants to play all his career for Real Madrid and if it does not work out, we will talk again.”

That it “does not work out,” meanwhile, could also be up to returning coach Zidane. The momentary speculation about the striker and coach stem from Zidane’s previous term when it was said the two might not quite fit together. The agent commented, “He will talk with Mr. Zidane, take it from there and then see at the end of the season.”

About Bale’s past situation under Zidane, the agent said, “Gareth wanted to play one way and Zidane wanted to play another. That was the cause of it and over a period of time it got worse.”

The agent sees the treatment of his player as unfair. This includes his playing time: “If you let Gareth play the way he wants to play, having a run of games in a row not in and out, he can be right up there with Cristiano Ronaldo. He still has a great talent.”
