The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Professor Mahmood Yakubu, has debunked report that the commission cancelled elections conducted in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja yesterday.

He made the clarification while responding to questions during a press briefing in Abuja on Sunday by INEC on the conduct of the presidential and National Assembly elections across the country yesterday.

There have been reports on social media claiming that INEC has cancelled or planning to cancel the elections conducted in the FCT where President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was alleged to have lost to the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) challenger, Atiku Abubakar.

The INEC Chairman said that the Commission has not cancelled election either in the FCT or any other place in the country.

Collation of results from the presidential and National Assembly elections conducted yesterday are still on-going in many states across the country.
